Wow, what a great year it’s been! 9 very successful events and at each one there always seems to be a few different cars turn up which is awesome to see!
The highlight for me has been finally getting my wagon finished and actually using it on some runs – in particular the Overnighter!
It’s been a busy year for the committee organising these runs and events.
One small problem that we’re having is not knowing how many people are going to show up for the runs. Obviously this determines how much we can spend on prizes etc. so if we get a poor number of participants and we’ve over estimated the numbers we end up out of pocket – and this in turn affects you, the members.
So what we propose is that if possible, please register if you are planning on coming to an event, it will be as simple as sending a text or email to myself or one of the committee members. We realise that sometimes it may be a last minute thing to decide to come, but even then late notice is better than none.
Feel free to discuss anything about the club, how it’s being run or any ideas with any of the committee members, or just show up to the committee meeting – we are always interested in feedback - good or otherwise.
With all that said I’ve had a fantastic year doing the newsletters and the website, it’s something that I enjoy and I hope you guys enjoy it as well.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from everyone on the Committee!
Cheers,
Brad Sayer
Some of you have probably heard about the law change that will apparently better protect the personal information held in the Motor Vehicle Register.
See the following links for more info:
Old Law...
New Law…
Frequently asked questions... The Q & A sums it up quite nicely.
Basically as I understand it the current law allows anyone that walks into the post office with your plate num access to your name and address for a small fee. Now there are provisions at the moment to hide this info but you have to apply for it and the acceptance criteria is quite high.
So the new law means that your personal information will no longer be available through the Post Office by members of the public, they will have to make an Official Information Request, which may be granted from the Secretary of Transport.
As a further protection, if you do not wish your name and address to be released to a person who has been granted an authorisation from the Secretary for Transport you may ask for your details to be withheld. This is called 'opting-out'.
And just to make it that much easier the NZTA now let you to it online, all you need is one of your plate numbers and your driver’s license number.
Click the link below to Opt-out online.
Opt-out Online...
Obviously the police and other powers at be will still have access to your details.
Hope that makes sense… If not then just opt-out anyway.
Cheers, Brad.
